“Eye can’t see the difference”: Facial Expressions of Pain, Pleasure, and Fear Are Consistently Rated Due to Chance

The present research examined how men and women with long short term mating preferences perceive static male nonverbal behavior. Participants saw images of interacting depicting different degrees of: space maximization, reciprocated/non-reciprocated intrasexual touch, gesticulation patterns gesture/no gesture palm up/neutral gestures, head cant (tilt), automanipulations, open/closed limb positioning. They had to choose which the 2 was most attractive, more flirtatious. We hypothesized that in each dyad who displayed more: non-reciprocated up gesturing, cants (tilts), auto-manipulations, open positioning would be rated as attractive results were consistent hypothesis. Specifically, men: exhibiting: positioning, touch initiation, being a recipient, auto manipulations hair area neutral attractive. Also, automanipulations area, cant(tilt) Findings are discussed terms self-presentational motives, prior research.
